4 Hidden Spots in the Informatics Engineering Building at Polbeng You Really Need to Check Out!
If you're a student or future
student of Politeknik Negeri Bengkalis (Polbeng)—especially from the Informatics
Engineering department—you’re probably already familiar with the building,
right? It’s the main hub for students to study, code, and work on tech
projects. But did you know… there are several cool and lesser-known spots
inside that building? These places are perfect for creating, collaborating, or
simply chilling out.
Here are 4 hidden gems in the
Informatics Engineering Building at Polbeng that you need to know about:
1. Creative Room – A Space for IT Students to Innovate Freely
The Creative Room is a dedicated
space designed to support collaborative student activities. Located on the
second floor, on the left side of the building, it’s equipped with a large
whiteboard, group work desks, and high-speed internet.
Students often use this room for group study, tech projects, or designing prototypes and UI/UX interfaces. Interestingly, this room also doubles as a thesis defense room. So, if you want to practice for your thesis defense or just get familiar with the environment, this is the ideal place.
2. Photo Studio – A Spot for Visual Content Creation
Love taking photos or making
content? The Photo Studio has everything you need—professional lighting, a
green screen, a DSLR camera, and multiple backdrops. Perfect for assignments,
projects, or social media posts.
This studio isn’t just for campus
use—it’s open to the public too. One of the regular activities here includes
graduation photo sessions. You’ll find the studio at the east end of the
building, where it’s managed by the Informatics Engineering lab team.
Interested in booking a session or seeing more of their work? You can check out their Instagram at @k_studiophoto or contact them at 0813 6482 0858.
3. Radio Room – Where You Can Try Being a Broadcaster
Have you ever thought about
becoming a radio host or podcaster? The Informatics Engineering Building has a Radio
Room you can use for broadcast practice or podcast recording.
This room is managed by UKM SKA
Polbeng, the campus broadcasting student organization. It's located right next
to the Photo Studio. Here, you can go live, chat about exciting topics, or
practice public speaking. Who knows—this could be the start of a future career!
It’s fully equipped with microphones, headphones, and audio editing software. Their live shows air Monday to Friday at 8:00 PM on 107.8 MHz, and you can also catch them live on Instagram at @skapolbeng. Want to try broadcasting yourself? Just reach out to the UKM team!
4. Front Garden – The Instagrammable Photo Spot
Who says the IT department is all
about coding? Right in front of the building, there’s a lovely little garden
filled with colorful flowers—especially paper flowers—that creates a refreshing
and peaceful atmosphere.
The Front Garden is often used as a relaxing spot, a casual hangout area, or even a photo backdrop. It’s perfect if you’re looking for some fresh air or a nice aesthetic for your Instagram feed.
